fill formview

Dears
I want to fill a drop dawn in controller for update mode , this property is not mapped to entity .
I don’t know how could I set data of formview of property
I used two format but they don’t work:

PHP

$form->children['groups']->vars['data'] =$entity->getGroups()[0]->getId(); $form->children['groups']->vars['value'] = strval($entity->getGroups()[0]->getId());

1 2	$form->children['groups']->vars['data'] =$entity->getGroups()[0]->getId(); $form->children['groups']->vars['value'] = strval($entity->getGroups()[0]->getId());

in handler I set

$this->form->get('groups')->setData($entity->getGroups()[0]);
