Is this normal that the email body table would already be 2gb?

It depends on your inbox and IMAP sync configuration in user profile. If you decided to sync entire inbox(es) without limitation (you can keep only certain folders in sync), the table size will match inbox size.

Could you please provide more details on your mailbox size and IMAP sync settings?

I have reconfigured what folders it looks at. Will the size of the table get reduced automatically?

yes, it should as emails that are not matching sync configuration will be deleted

We updated our email boxes to only include the inbox and sent mail (From ALL)

The values for total size remain the same.

    Brentwpeterson,

Could you please specify which of commands you are using to get the table size.

“Inbox” folder filter typically (in case with gmail) includes all sub folders so if you select it in user profile configuration you’ll have all incoming emails from your mailbox. Could you please clarify if table size correlates with mailbox size?

    Hello Dima,

I have the same issue with email related tables growing in size to over 9GB and it is causing my backups to fail due to memory usage.

We had been syncing the entire INBOX for 4 users, but after reading this post, I set all of our accounts to sync only one empty folder and not the INBOX and over 2 hours later, I have not seen any reduction in database size. The email-sync job is running every minute. It does not appear that unselecting the inbox for sync removed anything from the database.

If the email-sync job does not clean up after itself is there another option?
