how to have different featured category view to different customer group

hello guys,

I have 16 catogories and want to show them on featured categories front end view to separate customer group 8 each

right now Customer group 1 and customer group 2 see the first 8 categories in the frontend.

if I hide the first 8 categories to customer group 2, and keep the 2nd 8 categories visible to them they cannot see anything.

this raises the question, how to bring 2nd 8 categories to map to customer group 2 to view and have separate featured categories?

Hi,
currently featured categories are displayed in this layout update file.

To replace them by others you need to create layout update file in same directory which will change categories ids for this block.
Here’s an example of such layout update file which shows only 4 featured categories:

This layout update needs show_alternative_featured_categories context configurator which would contain logic to determine whether to substitute featured categories (checking for appropriate user’s group in your case).
